This interview is a part of the “Punjabi in BC” oral history project (2019-2023). “Punjabi in BC” is comprised of interviews with over 50 K-12 teachers, language advocates, journalists, and writers who have contributed to the life of the Punjabi language in British Columbia, Canada. The subject of this interview, Jagjit Singh Sohi was born in the village of Pharwali in Indian Punjab. After earning his Master’s degree at Punjabi University Patiala, he taught Science for 18 years in India before moving to Canada in 2009. He later joined Khalsa School in 2012 as a Punjabi teacher. This interview with Jagjit Singh Sohi is divided into two segments and includes two promotional videos. In the interview, Jagjit Singh Sohi speaks about his experience teaching Punjabi at the Khalsa School, his methods of teaching, process of creating resources for students, school activities which encourage language education, and the need for institutions to develop more resources.
