This interview is a part of the “Punjabi in BC” oral history project (2019-2023). “Punjabi in BC” is comprised of interviews with over 50 K-12 teachers, language advocates, journalists, and writers who have contributed to the life of the Punjabi language in British Columbia, Canada. The subject of this interview, Sohan Singh, born in 1948 in Jalandhar, Indian Punjab, migrated to Canada after completing his MA in History due to underpayment at his teaching job. He has collected a number of important archives over time and has also written extensively about the Komagata Maru incident, the Ghadar Party, Mewa Singh, and William Hopkinson, the latter being two figures associated with the Komagata Maru incident. This interview is divided into three segments and includes two promotional videos. In the interview, Sohan Singh talks about his career as a teacher, his writing and publications, his books and process of writing, the research process for his books, and history of the Komagata Maru incident.
