Abstract

본 연구는 원불교 기록유산의 가치에 주목하여 기록유산의 전모(全貌)를 소개하고 원전비평(原典批評)의 측면에서 원불교 교서 정본화 작업의 필요성을 강조한다. 원불교 기록유산의 전체의 모습과 내용은 이승훈 편저 『원각성존(圓覺聖尊)』을 기반으로 소개하였다. 이 편저는 지금까지 원전자료의 중요성을 간과한 해석 위주의 원불교학 연구성과의 한계를 성찰하고 극복하는 데 도움을 줄 뿐만 아니라 원불교 교리를 소태산의 깨달음의 관점에서 체계적으로 이해하는 데 필수 불가결한 토대가 되며 신앙과 수행의 길잡이로도 매우 중요한 가치를 갖는다. 원불교 기록유산이 갖는 가치와 교서 정본화 과제의 연관성을 입증하기 위해서 「대종경」 불지품 20장의 원본이 되는 ‘대우주의 본가(本家)를 찾아 초인간적(超人間的) 생활을 하라’는 전음광의 수필법문을 통해 「대종경」 편수 과정에서 축약된 법문이 갖는 문제점과 사은(四恩)을 설명할 때 소태산이 직접 사용했음에도 불구하고 『원불교전서』에서는 찾아볼 수 없게 된 ‘복전(福田)’, ‘경전(敬田)’, ‘비전(悲田)’, ‘은전(恩田)’의 개념을 소개하여 현재 사은의 이해와 실천에서 간과되고 있는 ‘존경(尊敬)’과 ‘구원(救援)’의 의미를 강조했다.
