Inderjit Sidhu : Writing about Women’s Issues

This interview is a part of the “Punjabi in BC” oral history project (2019-2023). “Punjabi in BC” is comprised of interviews with over 50 K-12 teachers, language advocates, journalists, and writers who have contributed to the life of the Punjabi language in British Columbia, Canada. The subject of this interview, Inderjeet Sidhu is a prominent figure in the Punjabi literary communities of Canada. Sidhu has authored several books, including collections of poetry such as Tan-Man (Body and Mind) and Baṇvās toṅ Baṇvās tak (From Exile to Exile), as well as the book of short stories Kaṅdh te Rishtā (Wall and Relationships). This interview is divided into two segments and includes three promotional videos. In the interview, Inderjeet Sidhu discusses how the collective struggle of women inspired her writing, Punjabi-Canadian literary culture, women’s empowerment, and her experiences writing for the Indo-Canadian Times.
