This analysis shows improved optical performance in augmented reality head-up displays, suggesting potential design optimization.
In this paper, a compact optical evaluation system for augmented reality head-up displays was designed. The system is compact and efficient with a custom-designed PPMA plano-concave lens coated with a reflective layer to serve as a mirror. Imaging quality was evaluated by the modulation transfer function method. Experimental results confirm that the proposed system was effective in performing optical performance assessment and thus can be a useful reference in optimizing the design of AR-HUD.
