Proposed WPT system demonstrates constant current and constant voltage features for electric bicycles, suggesting improved charging efficiency.
Wireless power transfer (WPT) is used in charging electric bicycles (EBs) due to its safety and convenience. However, existing WPT charging systems have problems such as unnecessary cross‐coupling, redundant compensation components, additional AC switches, and complex parameter design. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a WPT charging system based on a three‐coil structure. Through the special parameter design of the three‐coil structure, the system can achieve constant current (CC) output and constant voltage (CV) output under zero phase angle (ZPA) operation, avoiding the influence of unnecessary cross‐coupling on the system output. In addition, by optimizing the LCC topology on the receiving side, the transition from CC to CV can be naturally achieved. It is worth emphasizing that the system only needs one inverter to charge a group of EBs at the same time, which reduces the system cost. Firstly, the proposed WPT charging system is theoretically analyzed in detail. Secondly, the WPT system is verified to have load‐independent CC and CV output characteristics and ZPA operation through simulation. Finally, an experimental prototype is built. Both charger 1 and charger 2 achieved 3 A CC output and 80 V CV output. The experimental results verified the correctness of the theoretical analysis.
