This project develops a lift station for wastewater in Anna, highlighting key considerations and stakeholder coordination.
It's no secret that North Texas is expanding rapidly, resulting in unprecedented demand for new homes throughout the DFW metroplex. Developers are eager to build those homes in many growing cities such as the City of Anna. The Coyote Meadows Lift Station is an example of a project with multiple stakeholders working together to plan and build wastewater facilities to meet growing demand. This paper will provide highlights of a project where private developers came together along with the City of Anna to build a regional lift station to serve the growing population of the city. Major project considerations such as lift station site selection, demand estimation, transmission main sizing, pump selection, and future phasing will be discussed. Major coordination items such as a rail crossing, an adjacent highway expansion, incomplete records, and insufficient rights-of-way for existing roadways within the project alignment will be discussed. All these discussion topics will provide young professionals with some insight into the coordination and planning involved in designing a project with many stakeholders who have varying interests.
