Analysis highlights personal data protection issues in digital identification for insurance, suggesting balanced biometric development.
Digital identification in insurance is becoming an important trend: it increases the availability of services, speeds up the conclusion of contracts and reduces fraud. However, this creates high requirements for the protection of personal data. The article analyzes the advantages and risks of implementing biometric technologies in the Russian insurance sector. On the one hand, the use of biometrics and remote identification (via ESIA/EBS) increases the convenience for customers and the competitiveness of insurers. On the other hand, there are problems of data confidentiality and possible unauthorized use of biometric samples. This article discusses counterarguments (violation of privacy, technical limitations) and their refutations. The Russian and American approaches to digital identification in insurance are briefly compared. The conclusion is made about the need for a balanced development of biometric systems with strict compliance with personal data protection standards.
