This analysis demonstrates improved mechanical properties in 20GML steel billets, indicating optimal heat treatment for low temperatures.
A study of the influence of heat treatment modes on the mechanical properties and structure of cast and forged billets made of 20GML (20ГМЛ in Russian) steel is dscussed. The mechanical properties of the studied samples after the carrying out of re-normalization are considered and analyzed. It is shown, that the change in the re-normalization temperature has a significant effect on the mechanical properties and impact strength of cast billets. The optimal modes of heat treatment of 20GML steel billets have been selected to ensure high mechanical properties and impact strength at temperatures up to minus 60 °C.
