Aim CT Colonography (CTC) has been a well-established tool in investigating Colonic Pathologies for many years. With increasing elderly population with comorbidities referred on a 2-week pathway, the CTC role is becoming more and more important. The primary aim of this study is to look at the utilisation of CTC service in DGH. Method This is a retrospective study. All patients who have undergone CTC from Jan. 2022 till Dec. 2022 were included. The data was collected from the Patients’ electronic record system, Unisoft GI reporting tool and Sectra Uniview. Results Total Patients investigated: 4160 (colonoscopies) and 389 (CTC). 246 Females (63.3%) and 143 Males (36.7%) underwent CTC. Age ranged between 28-98. 41% (n=159) had the CTC done as a first-line investigation. 59% (n=230) underwent CTC due to failed colonoscopy. 9% underwent CTC, and only 3.5% had CTC done as a primary investigation. Of those patients undergoing CTC as first-line investigation, 79 (49.7%) patients were considered unfit for colonoscopy due to frailty and multiple comorbidities. 53 (33.3%) patients preferred to have CTC, while 25 (15.7%) patients previously had failed colonoscopy. 1 (0.6%) Patient had a history of colonic perforation, and 1 (0.6%) Patient had recent surgery. Conclusion There is limited utilisation of the CTC service in DGH, mainly due to training and capacity reasons. At present, Frailty and multiple comorbidities, Patient preference and failed colonoscopy are main reasons to perform CTC. There is scope for expanding this service as new indications are emerging to perform CTC as the primary investigation.
