Action research examines the impact of authentic material on Greek language learning in diverse cultural groups.
Teaching Greek as a second / foreign language (C2) is a scientific field with increasing interest and most research possibilities. Among the most prevalent teaching approaches is the communicative approach focusing on the use of authentic material. This is because C2 students are often confronted with a limited exposure to cultural elements, particularities and communication codes in the target language as part of the educational process, to the point that they acquire the grammatical and syntactic skills as well as the lexical structures, which are necessary for their language level, but on the other hand they find it difficult to interact with natural speakers and, therefore, to respond to situations requiring an understanding of social structures and cultural characteristics. In this light, we present a case study in the form of action research and we examine the effectiveness of authentic material in the teaching of Greek as an L2 in the context of non-formal education
