Investigating how placental mesenchymal stromal cells contribute to preeclampsia, highlighting their role in placental function.
Introduction The maternal syndrome of preeclampsia is driven by a dysfunctional placenta. The placenta is composed of a variety of placental cell types, including placental mesenchymal stromal/stem cells (pMSCs). MSCs are well known for their functionalities in numerous biological processes. It remains to be defined how these cells function in the placental development as well as in the pathogenesis of PE.
