This research demonstrates an innovative approach that minimizes current stress and enhances power transfer efficiency in dual active bridge converters through EPS control.
To reduce the current stress of a dual active bridge dc-dc (DAB) converter, this paper puts forward a current stress optimization (CSO) approach in extended-phase-shift (EPS) control. This paper established two typical switching mode mathematical models of the converter, combined with the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) optimality condition, to derive the optimum value of phase-shift parameters for minimizing current stress. On this basis, a proportional-integral (PI) closed-loop controller is adopted to achieve real-time dynamic adjustment of two phase-shift parameters, thereby completing optimal control of minimizing inductor current stress. Finally, comparison experiments in Simulink simulation show that in contrast to traditional single-phase-shift (SPS) control, EPS control and the proposed CSO approach simultaneously minimize inductor current stress while maximizing power transfer efficiency.
