Field experiment assessed nutrient availability in spring barley, indicating optimal fertilization methods for growth.
Aim. To assess the level of provision of spring barley plants with essential nutrients depending on the doses of applied fertilizers and the predecessor. To establish the optimal doses of fertilizer application for barley based on the method of leaf diagnostics and determining the degree of plant need for essential nutrients in the conditions of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe. Methods. The field experiment, visual, measure-weighting, laboratory, calculation and statistical methods were used to conduct the research. Results. Research conducted during 2018−2020 on dark gray podzolized coarse-dusty-light loamy soil in the conditions of the northern part of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe showed that the fertilizer system, the use of growth stimulants and the precursor significantly affect the content of total nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in the leaves of spring barley plants. Conclusions. In the northern part of the Right-Bank Forest-Steppe, the growth and development of spring barley plants significantly depends on the predecessor, the fertilization system and the optimal supply of basic nutrients during the growing season. According to the results of plant diagnostics, the best nutrition conditions were provided by the options with the application of N60P80K80 + N60 and N45P90K90 + N45 (IV) kg/ha of active ingredient.
