Historical analysis highlights the professional development of librarians, indicating systemic training efforts.
The improvement of the professional level of librarians in the 1920s and 1930s of the functioning of the National Library of Ukraine (now the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine) is presented, and the initiation of the first courses on the professionalization of library personnel based on the library is represented. The results were obtained, which form a systematic idea about the origins of the system of training and raising the professional level of librarians on the basis of the largest book-collecting state. In light of the full-scale military aggression launched by the Russian Federation against independent Ukraine, the coverage and popularization of the true history of Ukraine and the history of library affairs in particular is of particular importance. The complex history of the country’s largest book collection, which aspired to develop its activities following the example of the world’s best libraries, but was subjected to significant oppression by the Soviet totalitarian system aimed at destroying all the endeavors of talented scientists, is extremely revealing. The organization of the librarians’ professional development system, which was planned to be deployed on the basis of the National Library of Ukraine and which was to become a basic institution for the training of average library personnel for all scientific libraries of Ukraine, was no exception.
