The article analyzes the existing approaches to obtaining information on the effectiveness of curricula of training courses in the format of evaluation criteria and the possibilities of their integration into the higher education system. The object of the study is the process of introducing criteria-based assessment systems into the educational process of universities, and the subject is methods and procedures for criteria-based assessment of academic disciplines curricula. The purpose of the study is to theoretically substantiate the need to use a criteria-based approach in assessing students’ educational achievements. Academic novelty opens up in the systematization of relevant criteria-based approaches to evaluating university curricula, which allows us to offer new solutions to improve the educational process. As a result, the expediency of introducing analytical, comparative and complex methods for the formation of an assessment system with criteria optimization is argued. The theoretical significance is characterized by the expansion of ideas about the use of evaluative criteria in higher education. The practical significance is seen in the possibility of applying the results of the study in the higher education system to modernize the criteria-based assessment of curricula.
