This research demonstrates improved ductility in nickel alloy via filtration, suggesting better forging outcomes.
In order to purify the nickel melt from non-metallic inclusions by filtration, it is proposed to use ceramic foam filters based on partially stabilized ZrO2. This makes it possible to increase the ductility of the nickel alloy and thereby reduce surface cracking during forging of the cast ingot followed by its rolling for the manufacture of rings for the needs of the aircraft industry.
