Photoredox catalysis facilitates the formation of pyrroles in reactions with enaminones and ketene, suggesting a versatile synthetic route.
A facile synthesis of polyfunctionalized pyrroles has been explored via photoredox cascade cyclization of enaminones/ketene N,S-acetals with β-ketodinitriles using eosin Y, CuI, and Ag2CO3 in acetonitrile under blue LED irradiation at room temperature. The present report offers an efficient and straightforward approach to pyrrole-3-carboxylic acids and pyrrole-3-carboxamides with wide substrate scope and functional group tolerance.
