This case report highlights surgical intervention for cardiac hydatid cyst in a patient with multiorgan hydatid disease, indicating urgent treatment is necessary.
We report the case of a 38-year-old man with a history of thrombophlebitis of the right lower limb and prior surgical treatment for a hepatic hydatid cyst in 2019. Living in an endemic area for hydatid disease, the patient underwent an echocardiographic evaluation as part of an extension workup, which revealed a cystic mass in the left ventricle. Given his rural origin, positive hydatid serology, and history of hepatic hydatidosis, the diagnosis of a cardiac hydatid cyst was established. Due to the potentially severe natural progression of cardiac hydatidosis, early surgical intervention is imperative, as surgery remains the only definitive treatment option. This case highlights a rare presentation of multivisceral hydatidosis, accounting for approximately 5 to 7.5% of all hydatid disease cases.
