This analysis demonstrates altered T1rho and quantitative susceptibility in myocardial infarction models, suggesting effective imaging techniques.
Motivation: Adiabatic T1ρ relaxation time and Quantitative Susceptibility mapping acquired using single imaging sequence are used to determine injured areas in the myocardium after myocardial infarction (MI) Goal(s): The aim was to determine the MI area by acquiring T1ρ relaxation time and quantitative susceptibility maps with one scan. Approach: Mice hearts were imaged ex vivo 14 days after MI by using a T1ρ weighted 3-D gradient‐recalled multi‐echo MRI. Results: Both T1ρ relaxation times and quantitative susceptibility values were altered in the infarcted area compared to the remote area. Impact: This study presents a simultaneous T1ρ and QSM measurement for ex vivo assessment of myocardium after factitious myocardial infarction in mice. The method allowed determination of myocardial infarction based on co-localized 3-D T1ρ relaxation time and quantitative susceptibility maps.
