Analysis reveals optimal propulsor placement reduces drag force in mobile robots, implying enhanced energy efficiency.
The influence of walking thrusters installation locations on the drag force of a mobile robot is investigated. The basic parameters of propulsor placement, such as the distance between the robot's fulcrums relative to the machine body, are considered. Ways of minimising drag through optimal propulsor placement are analysed, thus improving the energy efficiency of the system. The results obtained are of practical importance for the design of mobile robots with walking thrusters.
