Analysis uncovers rhythmic features of prose through syntactic parallelism in Chuvash, Russian, and English.
The study aims to determine the features of the rhythmic organization of prose texts created by means of syntactic parallelism in the structurally diverse Russian, Chuvash, and English languages. The article reveals the content of the concept of syntactic parallelism. It is shown that the rhythmic organization of prose texts is an integral property of expressive syntactic parallelism. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that national-specific features of expressive syntactic parallel constructions in the indicated languages are described for the first time. Typical types of parallel syntactic constructions are identified and the most frequent ones are calculated in a comparative aspect. Examples of a special kind of syntactic parallelism in the Chuvash language are given, the stylistic function of which is enhanced through the rhyming of grammatical affixes and particles. As a result of the study, it was established that the most frequent types of expressive syntactic parallelism in all languages are anaphoric parallelism and epiphoric parallelism. At the same time, anaepiphora and chiasmus are more frequent in Chuvash than in other languages. In English, a characteristic feature of anaphoric parallelism is the more frequently encountered complete parallelism with the repetition of the grammatical basis of the sentence.
