Research shows challenges in professional self-determination for students in specialized education, highlighting the need for improved project work alignment.
One of the key tasks of modern society is to create an effective system of professional self-determination for students, which has become particularly relevant due to the low number of university graduates working in their field of study. The project is considered by the authors as a form of professional self-determination for students in specialized classes. In the process of working on projects, students are not only given the opportunity to update their knowledge about the profession and where it can be obtained, but in some cases, they also acquire practical experience. The article presents the results of a study conducted in 2024 among students in specialized classes in the city of Kazan. The study involved students from socio-economic, socio-humanitarian, engineering, pedagogical, medical, natural sciences, physics-mathematics, and IT fields of study. The analysis of the research results revealed a number of problems related to the organization of the professional self-determination process during project work, including: varying levels of readiness among students to work on individual projects; limitations of the resource base of educational organizations (technical, personnel, partnership, etc.); and a lack of alignment between project themes and the current educational profile and strategic directions of university programs. The findings allowed the authors to provide a number of recommendations aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of professional self-determination processes for students in specialized classes.
