Abstract Modern application of the ancient-principle of example gives promise of accomplishing sustained productivity on private forest lands in the Tennessee Valley. Here, forest owners and industries and public forestry agencies are voluntarily participating in management demonstrations to further their mutual interests. There is no coercion other than the compelling influence of tangible results. Forces initially set in motion by precept are now generating much of their own power. A member of the T.V.A., one of the public agencies involved, states his analysis and conclusions.
