In December 2020, a trial excavation was conducted to the west of ‘Ar’ara in the Negev (Permit No. A-8896; map ref. 199606–969/560897–1585; Fig. 1), prior to the development of an industrial zone. The excavation, on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority and funded by the Authority for Development and Settlement of the Bedouin in the Negev, was directed by T. Kayesar, with the assistance of D. Biton (area supervision, flints), E. Aladjem (surveying, aerial photography) and A. Golani (scientific guidance), as well as F. Kobrin and S. Talis (archaeological supervision and guidance).
