This study evaluated the effects of a mixture of Angelica keiskei leaf extract (AKE) and Gryllus bimaculatus extract (GBE) on thrombosis and atherosclerosis in a high-fat diet (HFD) mouse model. Using single and combined treatments of AKE and GBE, we examined the levels of NO production, coagulation factors, fibrinolytic factors, and cytokines in the blood. Results showed that treatment with the AKE and GBE mixture restored NO production in TNF-α-stimulated human umbilical vein endothelial cells, with the 1:1 ratio showing the highest efficacy. This vascular protective effect was also observed in HFD mice, where administration of AKE, GBE, or their mixture suppressed weight gain and downregulated fibrinolysis, coagulation, and inflammatory factors. Particularly, administration of the mixture was more effective in preventing thrombosis and atherosclerosis than individual extracts. These results highlight the synergy between AKE and GBE, suggesting the potential functional benefits of this mixture in preventing thrombosis and atherosclerosis. Therefore, this study suggests the applicability of this mixture as pharmaceuticals or dietary supplements.
