The article is devoted to the study of the environmental rights of citizens living on the territory of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China. The author focuses his attention on the analysis of domestic legislation on environmental protection and judicial practice of the designated states that are members of the BRICS interstate association. Comparative legal analysis allows us to come to the conclusion that in each state, despite similar environmental rights of citizens, there are key environmental indicators that make it possible to distinguish the category of rights under consideration and identify pressing issues related to their implementation.
