The objective of this paper was to investigate the effectiveness of retaining walls of backlight units in protecting TFT single‐layer areas through mechanical test simulations conducted on the ANSYS. Two models were constructed: one with retaining walls incorporated into the mold frame of the backlight unit and the other without. Varying levels of force were then applied to the cover glasses of both models. A comparative analysis was conducted on the stress and deformation observed in the TFT single‐layer area of both models. The results indicated that retaining walls exhibited a certain protective effect on the TFT single‐layer area when the cover glass was exposed to external forces.
