Exploring Application and Effectiveness of Character Design Education Program Using AI Based on Triarchic Theory of Intelligence

AI has emerged as a key technology in the 4th Industrial Revolution, leading innovation in various fields. Various attempts using AI are also being made in the field of character design, and accordingly, the capabilities that designers should have are changing. However, design education programs using AI are currently insufficient in specialized high schools, and it is necessary to establish a character design curriculum using systematic AI. Therefore, this study attempted to develop a character design education program using AI based on Sternberg's ‘Ttriarchic Theory of Intelligence’ and analyze its educational effect. The research method laid the basic foundation for this study by examining the theoretical background of the expected educational effects of character design, AI, and Ttriarchic Theory of Intelligence through literature research, and investigating the necessity of a character design education program using AI through a survey. Based on this, character design education using AI based on Ttriarchic Theory of Intelligence was planned, and classes were conducted with a total of 12 sessions of AI character design education programs. Classes were held for about three weeks from November 6 to November 24, 2023, and as a result of conducting a satisfaction survey after the end of the class, the overall satisfaction with the class was 4.53, confirming the effectiveness of this design education program study.
