Background: Although the use of spacer for pressurized metered-dose inhaler (did) for patients with insufficient inhaler technique is recommended, the data supporting their value is remarkably limited. The pivotal trials with extrafine single-inhaler triple therapy (efSITT) consisting of beclomethasone dipropionate/formoterol fumarate/glycopyrronium bromide in patients with asthma showed no significant differences in efficacy with respect to the use of a spacer. However, the effects of using spacers with efSITT in a real-world setting have not been evaluated. The TriMaximize study was designed to gain insights into treatment pathways in patients with moderate to severe asthma who have switched to efSITT. Our analysis at hand aims to provide real-word evidence of the effectiveness of spacer devices on disease control and lung function.
