A multi-beam sounding system is an essential technology in ocean exploration, which expands the range of measurement depth and improves efficiency by transmitting multiple acoustic beams simultaneously. This paper, starting from the relevant theory, analyzes the geometric characteristics of multi-beam sounding and gives the calculation method of the coverage width of multi-beam sounding and the overlap rate of adjacent bands in various sea areas to optimize the line design and ensure the efficient acquisition of seawater depth data. Specifically, this paper first uses the geometric analysis of measuring lines on two-dimensional and three-dimensional space and seabed slope mathematical model, then considers the irregular sea reality, using the Newton-paper method, based on sounding data line design, to minimize the total length and adjacent strip overlap rate and maximize the sea area.
