Due to the limitation of traditional measurement technology in the actual measurement process, this paper aims at the calculation problems of seabed depth, coverage width and overlap rate in multi-beam sounding technology, and carries out relevant mathematical modeling with matlab technology. First, we defined the Angle between submarine slope and water plane, the opening Angle of multi-beam transducer, seawater depth, coverage width and overlap rate, and established the functional relationship between seawater depth and coverage width. The variation characteristics of seafloor depth, coverage width and overlap rate are analyzed, and relevant mathematical models such as <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">h=h₀-L tan α</tex> are established. For the shortest line problem, the influence of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">β</tex> value on the coverage width and line spacing is considered, and the optimal line configuration is calculated. Finally, the main line direction in the east-west direction is optimized to reduce the total line length and control the overlap rate. The percentage of the missing area and the total line length are calculated, where the overlap rate distribution is symmetric about <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">β=π/2</tex> and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">β=π, β∈ [90ᵒ,\ 100ᵒ]</tex> . The purpose of this paper is to provide theoretical basis and practical guidance for the line design of multi-beam sounding technology, so as to improve the measurement efficiency and accuracy, and expand the practical application ability of multi-beam sounding technology.
