systematic and interdisciplinary approach to the analysis of the processes of “digitalization” of the economy has made it possible to identify contradictions in the interpretation of such modern and often used scientific concepts as “digital economy”, “digitalization”, etc. The analysis of Russian and foreign publications allows concluding that the academic community has not developed a unified approach to understanding the essence of the “digital economy”. In economic science, such an object of research as the “digital economy” factually does not exist. Objectively, there is an economy, but economic management systems are moving to new principles and technologies for receiving, transmitting, and processing information, i.e. digital ones. In the context of digitalization of information and the widespread use of digital information and communication technologies in economic process management systems, the ambiguity of the conceptual apparatus negatively affects the formation of a new way of economic thinking. This makes it difficult to develop effective mechanisms for managing an organization based on the cause-andeffect relationships of ongoing processes.
