Trends of the Local Rule for Parking Lot Obligation and Impact on Urban Environment Formation in Ginza

This study clarifies the effects and issues brought about by the local rule for parking lots in Ginza through reviewing the content of the local rule for parking lot obligation, the direction of revision currently under discussion, and the status of the development of obligatory parking lots. Furthermore, through a field survey, impact of these parking lots on street spaces in Ginza area is examined, and the future prospects for urban space formation in the event that the local rule is revised were to be presented.
