VIP-loaded biomaterial boosts perfused vascular density ~6-fold vs blank scaffold in ischemic injury.
Why the study?
Does local delivery of a VEGF, IGF-1, and PDGF cocktail improve vascularization and regeneration in a rat model of ischemic injury?

A locally delivered combination of VEGF, IGF-1, and PDGF from an optimized biomaterial significantly enhances rapid vascularization and wound healing in a rat model of ischemic injury.
Roser et al. (2025) studied Ischemic injury. VIP-loaded biomaterial (VEGF, IGF-1, and PDGF) vs. Blank biomaterial and no treatment controls was evaluated on Perfused vascular density at 1 week (6-fold increase). A VIP-loaded biomaterial delivering VEGF, IGF-1, and PDGF increased perfused vascular density by 6-fold versus blank biomaterial at 1 week in a rat model of ischemic injury.
