The article examines the current aspects of optimizing the administrative and legal status of an official in modern Russia. It is concluded that this institution plays an important role in improving the functioning of executive authorities in the Russian Federation. The role and importance of the administrative and legal status of an official in the formation of a legal, democratic state at the present stage of development of Russian statehood is noted. Attention is focused on the need for further improvement of legislation in this area of public relations.
