This analysis investigates heat transfer in a moving fin with internal heat generation, revealing significant efficiency gains.
The thermal dispersion in a moving dovetail permeable fin under internal heat generation is important for applications requiring efficient heat dissipation and temperature control. It is widely applicable in electronic cooling systems, automotive components, energy storage devices, and thermal insulation systems. Motivated by this, the present study investigates the influence of internal heat production on the thermal dispersal in a longitudinal dovetail moving porous fin subjected to convection and radiation. Two boundary conditions at the fin tip are analyzed: an insulated tip and a tip with a specified convective condition. The energy equation is nondimensionalized, leading to a nonlinear ordinary differential equation, which is solved using the homotopy perturbation method. The obtained results are validated against numerical solutions, showing excellent agreement with established results with absolute errors , confirming the accuracy of the present method. Graphical analysis illustrates the influence of various physical parameters. The findings reveal that a fin with a specified convective coefficient at the tip achieves a higher heat transfer rate compared with an insulated tip by 50%. Moreover, as the convective–conductive and porosity parameters increase, the temperature distribution within the fin decreases by about 10%–20%.
