Functional recovery in NICM links to a ~15% higher LVEF versus persistent reduced EF.
Why the study?
Nearly one-third of NICM patients experience left ventricular reverse remodelling, but the underlying myocardial changes remain poorly understood.
Does cDTI reveal distinct microstructural myocardial changes in NICM patients with and without LVRR compared to healthy controls?
Observational (n=36)
Does cDTI reveal distinct microstructural myocardial changes in NICM patients with and without LVRR compared to healthy controls?
cDTI reveals persistent tissue-level microstructural remodeling in NICM patients despite functional recovery (LVRR), suggesting its utility beyond EF measurement.

Lwin et al. (2026) conducted an observational in Non-ischaemic cardiomyopathy (n=36). Non-ischaemic cardiomyopathy with reduced EF vs. Non-ischaemic cardiomyopathy with recovered EF and healthy controls was evaluated on Mean diffusivity (MD) (p=0.0007). Non-ischaemic cardiomyopathy patients with reduced EF had significantly higher mean diffusivity than those with recovered EF (1.66 vs 1.54 x10³ mm²/s, p=0.0007), indicating persistent remodelling.
