Quality of life and late toxicity improve in patients with rectal cancer after total neoadjuvant treatment, indicating effective management strategies.
We read with great interest the paper by Israa Imam et al. [1] 1. Imam, I. ∙ Khan, T. ∙ Nilsson, P.J. ... Quality of life and late toxicity after total neoadjuvant treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer - LARCT-US Radiother Oncol. 2026; 214 , 111318 Google Scholar entitled Quality of Life and Late Toxicity After Total Neoadjuvant Treatment for Locally Advanced Rectal Cancer (LARCT-US). This study evaluated quality of life and late toxicity in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer who received a reduced total neoadjuvant treatment regimen. The results showed that this simplified TNT approach achieved favorable oncologic outcomes, a low risk of late toxicity, and acceptable quality of life comparable to that reported in the RAPIDO trial with fewer chemotherapy cycles.
