Retrospective cohort study finds early proteinuria reduction with voclosporin in lupus nephritis, indicating potential for improved kidney health.
Key Points
This study aims to evaluate the effect of voclosporin on early proteinuria reduction and its tolerability in lupus nephritis patients.
Retrospective cohort study conducted using Epic Lupus Database at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.
Included patients had biopsy-confirmed lupus nephritis and received voclosporin.
Demographics and clinical characteristics were obtained from electronic medical records.
Changes in urine protein creatinine ratio were calculated at 4, 8, and 12 weeks.
Twenty-five patients treated with voclosporin showed significant reductions in urine protein creatinine ratio at four weeks (-0.27), eight weeks (-0.51), and 12 weeks (-0.57).
All patients were on concurrent hydroxychloroquine, with high tolerance for voclosporin without discontinuation.
No significant change in estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) was noted over 12 weeks.
