Intensive archaeological surveys identify potential impacts on sites during electrical upgrade at Air Force Base, indicating careful preservation efforts are needed.
SAIC performed intensive archaeological surface surveys of portions of the project area for the proposed 12 kV electrical upgrade project on Vandenberg Air Force Base. The surveys were conducted of areas not surveyed by VAFB archaeologists, or otherwise exempted from survey (ie. within the cantonment area). The survey areas consisted of a total of 10.6 miles. Two archaeological sites and three isolated artifacts were recorded. In total ten archaeological sites and four isolated artifacts may potentially be impacted by this project.
