Do VKAs compared to DOACs reduce the incidence of bioprosthetic mitral valve thrombosis after bioprosthetic mitral valve replacement?
VKAs appear to be associated with a lower risk of valve thrombosis compared to DOACs following bioprosthetic mitral valve replacement.
bMVT is not uncommon, with numerically higher incidence in transcatheter compared to surgical valves, but the comparison was not statistically significant. VKAs are associated with a lower incidence of bMVT compared to DOACs.
