Why the study?
Does intensive blood-pressure control reduce kidney disease progression in patients with hypertensive chronic kidney disease?
Does intensive blood-pressure control reduce kidney disease progression in patients with hypertensive chronic kidney disease?
Intensive blood-pressure control does not significantly affect overall kidney disease progression in hypertensive CKD, though baseline proteinuria may influence the response.
Intensive BP control may not slow CKD progression overall; leaves open proteinuria-stratified effects for prospective trials.
In overall analyses, intensive blood-pressure control had no effect on kidney disease progression. However, there may be differential effects of intensive blood-pressure control in patients with and those without baseline proteinuria.
