While overall clinical outcomes and management of pulmonary embolism do not differ by gender, women face a significantly higher risk of major bleeding and longer hospital stays.
There was no difference between men and women for the clinical outcomes and management of PE. However, women undergoing treatment for pulmonary thromboembolic disease had a significantly higher risk of major bleeding and longer length of stay compared to men. Further research is required to investigate the reasons behind these differences and assess their potential impact on patient management and prognosis.
