Research demonstrates a thermal network model predicting temperature in eVTOL propulsion motors, suggesting improved safety.
To address the issues of insulation degradation and demagnetization of permanent magnets caused by substantial thermal loads generated by the axial propulsion motor during eVTOL operation, this paper establishes a three‐dimensional thermal network model suitable for complex flight conditions. The model enables rapid calculation of the temperature field distribution in the axial propulsion motor, thereby ensuring the safe and reliable operation of eVTOL systems. The study begins by designing an axial propulsion motor that matches the specific flight conditions and power requirements of the eVTOL, followed by a coupled analysis of motor electromagnetic losses characteristics under complex flight conditions. Subsequently, a 3D thermal network model and a finite element method that integrates the motor topology and heat source distribution are established through magneto‐thermal coupling analysis. Finally, experimental data on the motor's temperature rise are employed to prove the prediction accuracy and validate effectiveness of the 3D thermal network model. The results demonstrate that the thermal network method not only enables thermal analysis of the full mission profile but also exhibits significant advantages in computational efficiency, allowing rapid prediction of the temperature distribution in the axial propulsion motor for eVTOL.
