Use of information communication technology (ICT) in the technical service at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil Library

This study investigated the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in the technical services of the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH) Library, Wudil. The study was guided by three (3) research question; Qualitative research methodology was adopted while narrative research design was used for this study. Only two (2) persons were interviewed: university librarian and head of technical services department due to the fact that they are on the position to answer the questions, the data were analyzed thematically. Findings revealed that several ICTs tools, NewGenLib software, OPAC, etc., their application is sometimes limited due factors such as inadequate funding, poor internet connectivity; lack of ICTs skills personnel and lack of training. The study concludes that while ICT has significantly improved technical service functions, there are needs for enhanced investment in ICT infrastructure, staff training and re-training; subscription of internet connectivity; adequate power supply; and policy implementation to fully realize its potential. Recommendations are made on the training and re-training on staffs, injecting more finds for the procurement of ICTs facilities and subscription of internet.
