Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as an influential tool in enhancing English language learning, particularly in improving reading and writing skills among undergraduate students. The present conceptual study explores the role of AI-based tools such as intelligent writing assistants, automated feedback systems and generative AI platforms in supporting language development. The study highlights how AI contributes to improved writing accuracy, coherence, vocabulary development and reading comprehension through features like summarization, paraphrasing and real-time feedback. It also examines the benefits of AI in promoting learner autonomy, confidence and engagement in English learning. However, the study identifies challenges such as over-dependence on AI, reduced critical thinking, ethical concerns and digital inequality. The findings suggest that while AI significantly supports English language learning, its effectiveness depends on balanced and responsible use. Overall, AI serves as a powerful supplementary tool that enhances both reading and writing skills among undergraduate learners in a more personalized and efficient learning environment.
