This syllabus was designed for a semester-long 100-level undergraduate environmental science course with lecture and lab components. As originally designed, this course had two 75-minute lectures and one 2.5-hour lab each week, but topics and timeline could be adapted for other course schedules. the topics in modules include: ecosystems, energy flow, ecosystem services, biomes, biodiversity and conservation, carbon cycle and climate, water resources, water quality, air quality, sustainable food, and energy with a focus on innovative sustainable solutions to environmental problems. This resource contains two documents: 1) an annotated instructor syllabus with notes, learning objectives, detailed 4DEE alignment, descriptions of instructional materials, and links to resources; and 2) a student facing syllabus with a more streamlined focus on outlining the course and activities for each topic.
