Tests motor and system sizing for long-duration divert and attitude control systems, suggesting suitable propellants based on combustion stability.
This paper describes the results of standard motor tests by propellant formulation conducted for the development of long-duration DACS (Divert and Attitude Control System) and the system sizing derived from these results.Standard motor testing confirmed that stable combustion without the use of metallic stabilizers, and a burn rate correction factor was derived and applied to system sizing. The system sizing analysis indicates that propellant E is suitable for DCS (Divert Control System) and propellant A for ACS (Attitude Control System); the final selection, however, will be confirmed after additional evaluation of material compatibility.
