Strain differences in cMLCK isoforms alter MLC2v phosphorylation and inotropy in mice; leaves open translational relevance to human cardiac function.
Identification of a new 61-kDa isoform of cMLCK in mouse hearts suggests that lower basal MLC2v phosphorylation correlates with a reduced phenylephrine-induced inotropic response.
Taniguchi et al. (2015) studied Cardiac function and myosin phosphorylation. Phenylephrine and Calyculin A vs. C57BL/6J vs C57BL/6N mouse strains was evaluated on Phenylephrine-induced increase in twitch tension and MLC2v phosphorylation levels. In C57BL/6N mice expressing only the 61-kDa cMLCK-2 isoform, basal MLC2v phosphorylation and phenylephrine-induced inotropic responses were significantly lower than in C57BL/6J mice.
